Re: Bexley Selection Test – September 2020/Secondary School Transition 2021

We have now received correspondence from Bexley Admissions Team regarding the Selection Tests for 2020 and secondary school applications for September 2021.  Please find attached information  provided by Bexley for the September  2020 tests.  I would ask that you please make sure  that you take the time to read this through particularly as  there are implications related  to the current COVID-19 pandemic which may impact on the implementation of this year's test.  Please also find attached PowerPoint presentation from Bexley Admissions Team which provides key information regarding both the selection test (11+) and secondary school applications.   

We would urge you to take the time to read the attached document carefully and would also like to take the opportunity to reiterate the following key points to our parents and carers:

Bexley Selection Test:

  • It is the responsibility of parents/carers to ensure that registration has been completed by Friday 3rd July 2020 if you want your child to sit the test in September 2020.
  • Your child will not automatically sit the test in school unless they have been registered to do so.
  • Online registration will be open from Friday 1st May to Friday 3rd July 2020 from the webpage  
  • The online registration site will close on 3rd July 2020. Registration requests received after this date will not be accepted
  • The school is unable to register any pupils on behalf of a parent/carer.
  • As your child attends a Bexley primary school, they will sit the test in school on the morning of Wednesday 16th September 2020 (Bexley have reserved the right to change the date of the test in light  of the COVID-19 pandemic)
  • If you do experience any difficulty registering online, you must telephone the School Admissions Team on 020 8303 7777 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for assistance.
  • If you would like your child to sit the selection test for out of borough grammar schools, you will need to contact those schools or authorities direct this includes Kent grammar schools.

If your child has a special educational need as their school, we are able to make an application for special arrangements and depending on the nature of your child’s disability or need; this could be a request for enlarged and coloured papers or additional time.  Please read the attached Bexley guidance which outlines the criteria for applications for special arrangements.  If you choose to enter your child in for the selection tests and you believe that your child qualifies for an application of special arrangement, please email the school office using the email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. addressing your email FAO of Mr Lynch.  Your email should include your child's full name and evidence supporting your wish for an application for special arrangements to be made on your behalf.  Your evidence should meet Bexley's guidance and criteria.    Mr Lynch may call you to discuss your application.   To provide the school with the time to put together your child's application for special arrangement please ensure that you send your email by Monday 1st June 2020.

Secondary School Admissions:

  • The application window opens from 1st September 2020 and closes at midnight on the 31st October 2020.  It is essential that you submit your secondary school choices within this time frame.  Late applications will be processed after those made by 31st October and this could jeapordise your child getting a school of choice.
  • It is important that you visit the secondary schools you are considering to ensure that they are suitable for your child.  Every secondary school will have open afternoons/evenings throughout September and October (dates can be found on individual school websites).
  • Check the admissions criteria of your chosen schools as all Bexley secondary schools are academies with their own admissions guidelines.
  • You will receive your school offer on the evening of the 1st March 2021 usually via email.

As we are operating under different circumstances we ask that you please confirm receipt and acknowledgement of the above information  and attachments by selecting 'yes' on the form below.  Should you require any additional information please refer to Bexley's website or contact the school office.

Please be reminded, it is the responsibility of the parent/carer to register for the selection tests from the 1st  May until the 3rd July 2020 and to inform the school if they require an application for special arrangements to be made.  It is also the responsibility of the parent/carer to apply for a secondary school place from 1st September until 31st October 2020.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Following recent developments shared by the government we would like to assure you that we are in the process of digesting the guidance and planning a safe return for some pupils.

We understand that you are no doubt feeling anxious about your child possibly returning to school and the safety of pupils, staff and our families remains paramount to us and central to the planning process.  Full consideration will be given to all aspects of reopening and being COVID-19 secure and we hope that you will be confident with the decisions that are made.  

We will communicate with you before the May half term the school's plan for a partial phased reopening.
